I Got My Husband 2 FREE Caps. All I Paid Was the Shipping.
They were $79.95 each. Here's what showed up, and the one catch.
I don't normally order things I see on Facebook. But a post came up about a hat maker in Baltimore giving his caps away for free, and my husband Tom has worn the same faded ball cap for about ten years. So I clicked.
The place is called Ashford & Sons. From what I read, the owner is closing his workshop and giving away the caps left on his shelves instead of boxing them up. They were $79.95. Now they're FREE and you just cover the shipping.
I assumed there was a catch. The only one I found is that you pay the shipping.

The caps were $79.95 each. I ordered two, and all I paid was the shipping.
Tom's first reaction was "nothing's free." Fair. But two caps that were $79.95 each, for the price of shipping, is a deal I'll take.
I didn't need his size
This is what sold me. There are no sizes. Each cap has a metal buckle on the side and you adjust it to fit.
I've bought Tom two hats before and guessed his size wrong both times. With this one there was no size to guess.
What showed up
I got one in denim blue and one in brown. The denim is soft, like it's already been washed a hundred times, and the cap sits low and flat. Not the puffy kind.
Tom put the blue one on, fiddled with the buckle, and said, "Huh. That's a good hat." He has worn it every day since. Yesterday he asked if they make it in black.
They do.
If you're thinking about it
Two things I'd want to know. The site says there's a 90-day fit guarantee, so if it doesn't fit you email them and they sort it out. I didn't need it.
It also says there's no restock. When the caps are gone, they're gone.
My only regret is not adding a third for my brother.
